I created this paintingin the mid 70's when I lived in the swamplands of Louisiana.  This bird is portrayed  hunting for insects on a cypress knee.  As a young person, I spent a lot of time hunting and fishing deep within the big swamp, and I became quite familiar with the many species of unique birds that inhabited it.  The Prothonotary Warblers were abundant there in the Spring and Summer seasons...a joy to behold when brightly  illuminated against the dark and murky swamp background.
