| This is one of my very early paintings done in 1973. As a zoology student, I had been on a 3 month field expedition for the LSU Museum of Natural History. While there, we collected these birds in their natural habitat in Peru, around 7,000 feet in elevation on the Eastern slopes of the Andes. Many thanks to Dr. John O'Neill for making the trip possible for me as an undergraduate, and also for allowing me to watch him paint and learn the techniques of detailed bird illustration. | |||||||||||||||||
