| There is nothing more excitring than the sudden explosion of an unexpected covey rise with startled birds taking off in all directions. This painting was created in the early 80's after the Piney Woods country of east Louisiana. West of Baton Rouge is bottomland hardwood country, and then the Atchafalaya swamp, but as soon as you cross over to the east side of the city it suddenly turns to pine. This habitat continues into Mississippi and is great for quail hunting. |
