Ron Louque was announced the winner of the  2002  Federal  Duck  Stamp Contest.   His majestic  depiction of  a pair of  Snow Geese  over  the  Chincoteague  National Wildlife Refuge took 1st  Place honors over 249  other  entries, and then graced the 2003-04  federal  waterfowl hunting stamp which is purchased by hunters and stamp collectors nation-wide. Funds raised fom the  stamp sales are used to purchase wetland habitats across America for the preservation of  waterfowl and other wildlife species. The year 2003 marked  the 70th anniversary of the Federal Duck Stamp program, and the 100th year anniversary of the national wildlife refuge system.

The  coveted  Federal Duck Stamp Art Contest is known as  the most prestigious and lucrative art competition in the world. The career of the winning artist  is  enhanced  greatly by receiving this  high honor,  and  the  financial  rewards are  significant.  This was Louque's  30th year  to enter  the  contest  that  he  had  come so  close to  winning  numerous  times  before.  Proir to winning  the  federal contest, Louque  had  already  won  27 other  State Conservation  Stamp Contests, so he is no stranger to this field of endeavor.

Ron Louque  has  been a  practicing  professional  nature artist  since 1974, and  is  nationally known  for  his 28  stamp awards across the nation. His  paintings have also appeared  in national  publications such as
Ducks Unlimited, Audubon, National Wildlife, Plow & Hearth, and many others.
